The Lompoc Mural Society is seeking to commission an “Open” (no theme) mural for placement in our colorful ‘Art Alley’. Please keep in mind the Art in the Alley is enjoyed by folks of all ages from all over the world, we will ONLY consider art that is free of profanity, vulgarity and obsceneties. With that said…Lets have some fun!

Interested artists are required to submit a concept sketch for jurying by the Lompoc Mural Society’s Artistic Criteria Committee (ACC) by March 15, 2015. Please include with the submission a resume and samples (photos) of previous work.

The completed mural will be 8’ x 20’ horizontal format. Prospective artists are encouraged to be Creative. The Lompoc Mural Society will not be providing resource information or reference photos. The artist selected by the ACC and approved by the Lompoc Mural Society will be required to submit a full color, to scale rendering accurately depicting the completed mural. The selected Artist will receive a deadline to complete this portion.

Once the full color, to scale rendering has been approved, a contract will be issued and signed by all parties. The Artist will receive an initial payment of $1,000 within 30 days of approval of rendering and signing of contract. The total payment for this mural will be $5,000.

The Lompoc Mural Society will provide five 4’ x 8’, DiBond panels. The Artist is responsible for pickup of the panels in Lompoc and delivering the finished mural by an agreed deadline. The DiBond panels need to be lightly sanded and primed with latex primer before painting the mural. The Artist is responsible for prep work and painting the mural with approved acrylic latex paint. Currently the Lompoc Mural Society uses primarily Nova paints (www.novacolorpaint.com).

The Lompoc Mural Society will be responsible for the installation of the 5 mural panels. The Artist will be required to undertake any touchups needed after installation of mural (panels) at the proposed site.
